A recently unearthed historic heirloom variety sent to Craig LeHoullier the author of the popular EPIC TOMATOES book.
Craig was kind enough to share the seed with us at Tomato Revolution.
Josh Branstetter found the seed when clearing his Grandpa Bings house after his passing.
On returning from World War 2 Bing bought some land and grew vegetables. He enjoyed sharing his harvest of tomatoes with locals and often carried tomatoes in the back of his pick up with some paper bags so he could share. Picture in the bio of Bing and his truck. He saved seed every season from the tomato crop and labelled each year on the seed packets.
The flavour profile is classic tomato but with a lingering finish that equally smacks of acidity and sweetness.
